Media Analysis Research in International Sport (MARIS) is a multidisciplinary research group at the University of Minnesota that studies the relationship between sport, media, and society from international, global, and transnational perspectives.
MARIS has three primary purposes:
Research: To advance the theoretical, methodological, and empirical study of sport media from a socio-cultural perspective
Student Engagement: To engage undergraduate and graduate students in research on media and communication practices in international sport
Collaboration: To create a space for collaborative knowledge-making toward more equitable and more just sport and media systems with scholars across departments, disciplines, and universities
