Dunja Antunovic, Ph.D., assistant professor in the School of Kinesiology, co-authored a book titled, Serving Equality: Feminism, Media and Women’s Sports, with Cheryl Cooky, PhD, (Purdue University) in 2022, which continues to be reviewed.
In a recent review in the International Journal of Sport Communication, Kaja Poteko (University of Ljubljana) called the book “both a methodological and an epistemological and interpretive innovation in the field of sports media studies.” In addition, the reviewer argued that Antunovic and Cooky “serve the readers the greater inclusivity and nuance of the field under study in a fresh, progressive, and potentially transformative way.”
The book has previously been reviewed in the European Journal for Sport and Society and the Journal of Broadcasting & Electronic Media.
Antunovic and Cooky are both affiliated scholars with the Tucker Center for Research on Girls & Women in Sport.
