Dunja Antunovic, PhD, assistant professor of sport sociology in the School of Kinesiology, was the keynote speaker at the International Scientific Conference on the Role of Sport in Society in Zagreb, Croatia.

Dunja Antunovic, Ph.D., assistant professor in the School of Kinesiology and director of the Media Analysis Research in International Sport (MARIS) research group, recently contributed to an 'explainer' video for the University of British Columbia on October 20, 2023 titled "Gender Equality in Sport Media."

Antunovic’s talk was titled “Diversity on digital platforms? Sport, gender, and national identity during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.”

Hokeun Choi, master's student in sport management and student representative of the Media Analysis Research in International Sport (MARIS) lab, presented a paper titled "Underrepresentation of Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) Sports Medicine Practitioners in Elite Sport" at the North American Society for the Sociology of Sport (NASSS) annual conference.

Antunovic's talk was titled "Feminist Sports Media Studies: Past, Present, and Future Directions."

In a recent International Journal of Sport Communication review of the School of Kinesiology's Dr. Dunja Antunovic's book "Serving Equality: Feminism, Media and Women’s Sports" Kaja Poteko (University of Ljubljana) called the book “both a methodological and an epistemological and interpretive innovation in the field of sports media studies.”

Dunja Antunovic, PhD, assistant professor of sport sociology in the School of Kinesiology, and School of Kinesiology undergraduate students Meg Messer (Sport Management) and Sam Dreher (Kinesiology) published an article entitled “‘Time to award some medals’: A comparative analysis of Olympic coverage in the United States and Australia” in the International Journal of Sport Communication (IJSC).
